Sewing Therapy Roma Top and Dress

Buy the Roma Top and Dress sewing pattern from Sewing Therapy. Roma is a romantic oversized blouse and dress that blends vintage elegance with modern versatility. It features a V-neckline with a distinctive collar, subtle drop shoulders, and dramatic pleated sleeves. There are two size options for the collar, and the sleeves can be finished with cuffs or elastic. The dress has practical in-seam pockets.

A defining feature of Roma’s design is the long side tie option. The ties can be wrapped around the waist for a belted silhouette. Or to fully embrace the billowy volume of the garment, the ties can be creatively draped – brought to the back and looped over the shoulders, then threaded under the collar and tied into a charming bow for a playful accent.

Sewing level: Confident beginner / Intermediate

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

Suggested fabrics: The fabric choice significantly influences the final look, from soft and airy to structured and statement-making. For a soft and airy oversized silhouette, use cotton lawn, voile, Swiss dot, lightweight linen or linen blends, tencel, cupro, rayon challis, or double gauze. For a structured oversized silhouette, use poplin, cotton sateen, medium weight linen or chambray, seersucker or textured woven fabrics, or lightweight denim or canvas. For a flowing silhouette, use rayon, viscose, tencel twill, silk crepe, or chiffon (with lining).

Fabric requirements: The fabric amounts listed include the large collar, longer sleeve, and tie option.

Top: 54" (137 cm) wide fabric: 2 - 2.5 yd (1.8 - 2.3 m).

Dress: 54" (137 cm) wide fabric: 2.5 - 4 yd (2.3 - 3.6 m).

Sizing: US 0 – 24 (approx. UK 6 – 24, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

The top is intended to fall to the fullest part of the hips, while the dress is designed to reach below the knee on someone who is 5'4" (163 cm) tall.

Notions: Optional: elastic for elastic sleeve version.
